Middle Tennessee Magic Club 2010 Meeting Schedule

The Middle Tennessee Magic Club meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7:02 PM Central Time at the North Boulevard Church of Christ located at 1112 N. Rutherford Blvd in Murfreesboro, Tennessee (except for January, May, and July as listed below).

Below we've listed our Ring's Meeting Schedule for 2010.Each month we'll have either a "theme" or mini-lecture. There will always be time for the magic so come ready to present any style you'd like - even if it doesn't match the "theme" for the month. 2010 is shaping up to be a most memorable year for The Middle Tennessee Magic Club and we don't want you to miss a moment of the fun!

January 5th - special date

Annual post-Holiday Holiday Bash
This year the Post Holiday Bash will held at Florence Church of Christ in Murfreesboro. This is a potluck bash so bring not only some magic but some food to share. The Florence Church of Christ located at 6732 Old Nashville Highway in Murfreesboro. Take I-24 to I-840 and head toward Knoxville. Get off at the first exit, 55, onto North Broad Street (also known as US 70). Go north, away from Murfreesboro, about 2 1/2 miles and make a left onto Florence Rd. Follow Florence for almost a mile and make a right onto Old Nashville Highway. The church sits on the right about 1/10 of a mile away. See the map below.

February 2nd

 Home Made Props
Have you made a prop for your act that you're really proud of? Or have you altered (dare we say "improved") the workings of a commercial prop? Now's your chance to show off the hidden Bob Villa inside every magician. 

March 2nd

Mini-Lecture on Escapes by Jerry Fraley
Master of the macabre and all things spectacular, Jerry Fraley presents a lecture on Escapes. The great mind behind Twisted Mind Majik is sure to entertain s well as educate. The theme for "Open Time" will also be escapes.  

April 6th

Mini-Lecture on Creating A Character by Eric Jamborsky
With a background in theater, who better than Eric Jamborsky to lecture on the important topic of Creating A Character. There is no set "theme" for Open Time at this meeting, so if you have a character you're developing, why not debut it tonight! Of course, feel free to perform any style of prestidigitation that you'd like. 

May 4th - special location

Annual Magic Flea Market
We'll be holding our annual Magic Flea Market Swap 'n Sell this month. Bring your gently-used magical items to sell or just stop buy to browse. Tables space is free to Ring 252 members, $10 for nonmembers (it costs nothing to shop). There will be no Business meeting, Activity or Magic Open Time on this night. June 1st

Red, White, & Blue Effects
Get as patriotic as you can with all the Red, White, and Blue you can cram into an effect. The 4th of July is only a few weeks away. Got any special routines that you use? Show them off tonight. 
 
July 17th - special date and location
Annual Ring Picnic 
Plans are still being finalized for this year's annual summer gathering. Once again, we hope to secure a large pavilion in Barfield-Crescent Park in Murfreesboro. The Ring will provide the burgers & hot dogs while Members & guests supply the rest of the goodies as well as the entertainment. Please check back for more details as they become available.

August 3rd
Mini-Lecture on Packs Small, Plays Big by Jerry Fraley
The holy grail of magical props - ones that pack small but BIG! Jerry Fraley will inform and educate us on the subject with a lecture on this hot topic. Got an effect that fit's this description? Bring it 'cause that's also the theme for this meeting's Open Time.  
 
September 7th

 Mentalism
Clear your mind. Look into the future and see a whole evening of exciting magi as we have mentalism as our theme for Open Time. We predict a great night of fun.  

October 5th

 Spook or Spooky Magic
What better time than the month containing Halloween and the anniversary of Houdini's death to have Spooky Magic as our theme open Open Time. What's your favorite haunted or bizarre effect? Bring it tonight and give us chills that'll last the whole month.  

November 2nd

Mini-Lecture on Magic Using Technology by Robert Killen
Technology is all around us and some of it can even be used to perform magic. Robert Killen will lecture on this new topic. So get your geek on and show us the coolest techno-magic you've got as it's also the theme for Open Time.

December 7th

2011 Election of Officers
Magic In The Spectator's Hand
After we elect the 2011 roster of Officers it'll be time to get back to the magic. As we wrap up another great year, let's look at effects where the magic happens right in the spectator's hands. Get creative and get small (perhaps something inspired by the August mini-lecture?).
