Who is ALAN FISHER?

ALAN FISHER is a COMEDIAN, an ACTOR, a MAGICIAN, . . . an ENTERTAINER and has been one for 35 years. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania he became interested in magic at age 6 and gave his first professional performance when he was 9. He's been on stage ever since.

In 1981, ALAN earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre from Point Park College. During that time he spent four years at The Pittsburgh Playhouse Theatre Center appearing in "The Rivals", "A Comedy of Errors", "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown", "The Last Meeting of the Knights of the White Magnolia", and many other musicals and dramatic productions.

He also had the opportunity to work back stage at the Playhouse in every capacity from building sets, costumes & props to running lights and sounds. These skills have served him well throughout his professional career in the business.

He toured for a summer with the Allegheny Repertory Theatre in a production of Androcles & The Lion.

ALAN's magic & illusions show was the opening act for internationally known comic Kelly Monteith. He also originated the character of Captain Idlewild for the Idlewild Park/StoryBook Forest amusement park complex in Ligonier, PA and toured the OH/WV/PA area performing "The Captain Idlewild StoryTime Magic Show" which he created and produced.
In 1982 he joined the national touring company of the off-Broadway smash hit comedy "Big Bad Burlesque". The production, a genuine re-creation of an old time burlesque show, was conceived by Don Brockett [ Chef Brockett of Mister Rogers Neighborhood ]. For six years ALAN crisscrossed the country with the show appearing first as the Juvenile, or chorus boy, and working his way up through the ranks to the starring role of Top Banana.

Alan also served as Associate Producer at Don Brockett Productions for 2 years and appeared in or helped create shows with them for over 11 years.

He's also performed at or hosted countless charity events for such organizations as The American Cancer Society and The American Heart Association, where for two years he was chairman of the "Laugh Attack" comedy benefit. He has appeared several times on the celebrity phone panel of the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon for MDA.
Alan Fisher - The Music City Madman ALAN worked the comedy club circuit full time for 8 years. He has headlined shows up and down the east coast and performed for countless industrials / trade shows with his unique brand of manic energy and off-the-wall observations. Some of those clients include Westinghouse, Federated Investors and Gimbles department store He has also performed close-up as well as stage and cabaret magic from coast-to-coast in every possible venue. Add to this over 2,500 singing telegrams and hundreds of costume character appearances (everything from a talking Christmas Tree to a 7 foot pineapple) and you get an idea of the depth of his performing experience. From 1,000 seat opera houses to back yard picnics to a corporate boardroom and back again ALAN FISHER has entertained them all.
His sideline talents include puppetry, which occasionally makes it way into his stand up comedy act, and make-up, which he has designed for more than a dozen theatrical productions as well as television commercials and the feature film Midnight. Other credits include several appearances on the The Nashville Network, in the made-for-cable movie The Ten Million Dollar Getaway and as Larry the Lobster in the feature film Bob Roberts directed by and starring Tim Robbins. He has also mastered a world of dialects and voices.
ALAN is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and serves as the Web Master for IBM Ring 252 - The Middle Tennessee Magic Club. In addition, ALAN is a Past President of that Ring. He and his wife, actress / singer / songwriter / model Margie Rose, moved to the middle Tennessee area in the early 90's.
